Derwen has invested in a state of the art aggregate recycling facility, which is the first in Wales to offer various single sized certified aggregates and low permeability clay that conform to British and European Standards.
The majority of the feedstock originates from green-field excavations and rock over burden; these materials are normally disposed of at a landfill site. This alternative route contributes toward the achievement of landfill diversion targets.
We can recover 99% of the feedstock and return it into clean single sized aggregates that meet the requirements of quarried products. The sand we produce is a sustainable sand and has little impact on our countryside or coastline. This is most important in Wales where sand extraction from the sea is causing increasing concern.
